Cues are words that appear in the transcript but are not actually spoken in the media. SyncWords has separate color-coded labels for Sound and Tone Cues. Words that are bracketed [] in the transcript will be automatically assigned as Cues.

Sound Label (Blue)-Any sound that occurs in the media that is not spoken by a person.

Example: [Dog barks] or [Music]

Tone Label (Purple)-Specifies the tone of spoken dialogue.

Example: What is in the box? [Joyfully] You brought me cake!

To learn how to add Cues, read the steps below or view our updated Review Tool video.

Step 1 - Launch Review Tool

Click the “Open Review Tool” button on the project page. The Review Tool will open in a new tab of your browser.

NOTE: You must have a current version of the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in installed to use the Review Tool.

Step 2 - Select the Cue

Click the word that you want to label as a Cue.

When the word is highlighted, you can choose between the Cue Labels on the left side of the screen.

You can also select from the icon bar above the highlighted word.

If you need to add a word for a Cue that is not already part of the transcript, you can select the Edit Text button to insert text.

SyncWords will re-sync on the fly to ensure that any new Cues do not affect the timing of words surrounding the change.
